Methods in wildlife research and integration of the results into a wildlife corridor network

By law in Germany a national habitat network should be developed. For the conservation of Germany mammals such habitat network is urgently needed. For this reason wildlife corridors should be established. They should function as passages in between habitat patches, seasonal habitats and for migration which is necessary for the genetic exchange. Measures to minimize the fragmentation by new projects should be taken, furthermore it iss necessary to reconstruct old migratory routes which are already interrupted. Remaining problems could be minimized by eradicating mortality factors within the local population.

It is emphased that the favorit habitats are not always the best strutures for migratory animales. The wildlife corridors should give the minimal habitat requirements, which are needed for every species. By this way it is possible to construct corridors including habitats for many species. However not all requrements could be fullfiled. So priorities should be given to the species with the highes conservation needs.

To take the requirements into account for planning parameters should be given. Knowing how much of what is needed is necessary to estimate the Aufwand and to controll the success. Appropriate mesures are to bild Grünbrücken and influence landscape Gestaltung.

Because of the spacial reqirements of mammals a nation wide corridore system is needed. Tese corridors should be connected with corridors in neighbouring states. Measures should be taken in priority were these corridors are interrupted.
